About

Tom Morton

I’m Tom Morton. Six Foot 3 is my consulting practice: senior web engineering for agencies, institutions, and businesses that need a technical owner, not just another pair of hands. Based in Florida, working on Eastern Time.

The short version

I’ve been building for the web professionally since 2008. The relationships tell the story better than a resume could: seven clients have stayed with me past the ten-year mark, including a national home furnishings retailer that has kept me as developer-of-record for eleven years, an Ivy League law school’s academic programs for nine, and a healthcare marketing agency I’ve quietly built for over a decade.

For two years, 2021 to 2022, I consulted for the company behind WordPress.com, building customer sites for their done-for-you service under signed agreements, including leading a three-developer delivery team.

How long clients stay

Anyone can claim experience; retention is harder to fake. These are my longest client relationships. Names withheld; the stories are in the case studies.

How I work now

AI changed this industry, and I don’t pretend otherwise. I use it every day, and in experienced hands it’s a genuine multiplier. What it can’t do is take responsibility: notice the migration that quietly loses customer records, push back on a plan that will fail in six months, answer the phone when checkout breaks in December. That’s what clients hire me for. Judgment, ownership, accountability. The code has never been the hard part; knowing which code, and standing behind it, is.

The crew

Six Foot 3 is deliberately not an agency. There’s no bench of juniors learning on your dime. When a project needs more hands, I bring in a small crew of senior specialists I’ve worked with for years, engineers who run serious systems in their day jobs. You always work with me directly, and I own every outcome.
